Digital Lab Training: Paving the Way to Libya’s Digital Transformation
A two-day “Digital Lab” training was kicked off in Tunis on the 4th of March, 2023. The Digital Lab is an initiative launched under the supervision of the General Information Authority, with the technical support of Expertise France through the E-NABLE project funded by the European Union to keep pace with global digital developments and to work with all state institutions and those in charge of technology to employ modern technologies and information systems to support the digital transformation and innovation in all Libyan sectors.
Through the training, which international digitisation experts supervised, the Libyan Digital Lab roadmap and action plan for 2023 were presented and discussed. The attendees discussed methods of conducting a digital diagnosis of the various administrations to build a comprehensive strategic vision for digital transformation and to choose applications and digital solutions applicable within Libyan institutions. Participants also learned about the French Digital Lab’s work plan, best practices, and how it works with ministries and other stakeholders to achieve its goals.
The training was attended by Mr. Abdel Basset Al-Baour, Chairman of the General Information Authority, Mr. Mohamed Ahmed Al-Aswad, Deputy Director of Programs at Expertise France, and members of the Digital Lab, who are representatives of the General Information Authority, the Central Bank of Libya, the Ministry of Economy and Trade, the National Information Security and Safety Authority, the Libyan Post Telecommunications & Information Technology Company, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and the General Authority for Communications and Informatics.
Many workshops, meetings and study tours will also follow this training to define goals and tasks accurately, exchange experiences, and identify solutions and prototypes to enable the digital transformation of institutional services in Libya.
