National Economic and Social Development Board Holds Meeting on Business Environment Reforms in Libya
On Wednesday, February 28, 2024, a meeting was organized by the National Economic and Social Development Board to present the outputs of the Business Environment Reform Project in Libya by the Economic Reform Team. The meeting discussed the draft regulations and recommendations for implementing some of the reform priorities, and the attendees discussed the reality of the Libyan economy and the business environment according to international business indicators.
The Economic Reform Team, assigned by the National Economic and Social Development Board, studied the reforms included in the Reform Guide and formulated their recommendations in this regard to refer them to the relevant authorities for implementation to improve the business environment in Libya.
It is worth mentioning that the “Reform Guide for Improving the Business Environment in Libya” is a document that sheds light on the most important issues facing Libyan companies by listing 20 top-priority economic reforms. It was developed in cooperation with Expertise France and supported by the European Union based on a survey in which more than 600 Libyan companies of different sizes and sectors participated.
The meeting was chaired by Dr. Mahmoud Al-Ftissi, Director General of the National Economic and Social Development Board, and attended by: Mr. Mohamed Al-Mukhtar, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Civil Service, Ms. Hanan Suleiman, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Tourism and Traditional Industries, Mr. Mustafa Al-Barouni, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance, Mr. Abdul Salam Mawlood, Head of the Economic Reform Team, Mr. Musa Al-Zubik, Director of the Department of Private Sector Development and Investment at the Ministry of Economy and Trade, and Mr. Mohamed Al-Aswad, Deputy Program Director at Expertise France, and representatives of some relevant institutions in addition to a number of civil society organizations working in the field of economic empowerment.
