CBL Receives a Training on Risk Management for Leasing Activities
Within the framework of the E-NABLE project, funded by the European Union and implemented by Expertise France, a training was conducted in Tunis on May 23rd -25th, 2023, with the participation of the Central Bank of Libya in order to establish the principles for risk management for leasing activities and set the standards for risk assessment and risk-based supervision.
This training comes within the framework of supporting the Central Bank of Libya to develop the leasing sector in Libya by putting in place a regulatory framework for financial leasing, including licensing and prudential requirements for leasing companies in Libya.
Developing the leasing sector will increase the range of financial products available for SMEs in Libya and provide a route for accessing finance to businesses that would otherwise not have it, thus promoting economic growth and job creation.
Among the participants in the training were Dr. Nabiel Benshaban – Head of the Non-Banking Institutions Section at the Central Bank of Libya, Mr. Ahmed Belhaj – Head of Islamic Finance at the Central Bank of Libya, the team of Supervisory and Monetary Department at the Central Bank of Libya, Jean-Francois Bouchard – Central Bank Expert, Julien Schmitt – Country Representative and Director of Programs at Expertise France Libya, and Lisjana Hila – Financial Sector Development Expert at Expertise France Libya.
