Central Bank of Libya Hosts Workshop on The Role of the Banking Sector in Diversifying Financing Sources in collabrotion with the E-nable project

Under the patronage of His Excellency Mr. Al-Seddik Omar Al-Kabeer, Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, the Institute of Banking and Finance Studies, in cooperation with Expertise France, as part of the E-NABLE project funded by the European Union, organized a specialized workshop on March 5th, 2024 entitled “The Role of the Banking Sector in Diversifying Financing Sources” at the Marriott Hotel in Tripoli, in the presence of His Excellency the Minister of Local Governance, and representatives of the European Union Delegation and Expertise France in Libya, and representatives of each of the Ministries: Local Governance, Planning, Finance, Economy and Trade, in addition to the presence of representatives of the Islamic Development Bank, and with the participation of the heads of the Commercial banks and several concerned institutions.

The workshop addressed the announcement of the procedures and decisions taken by the Central Bank of Libya to support the business environment and investment in Libya, to strengthen the micro, small, and medium enterprise sectors, and to activate the role of the private sector when it comes to development.

The two-day workshop also aims to activate technological innovation in the banking field to strengthen monetary policy, strengthen financial inclusion services in Libya, and improve the efficiency of the banking sector through the development of skills and the application of international standards, in addition to encouraging investment in partnership between the public and private sectors in the fields of the green and blue economies.
