Expert Gives Input on the National Free Zone Strategy Draft

On Wednesday, January 10, 2024, a meeting was held in Tripoli to discuss and follow up on the draft National Strategy for Free Zones and Transit Areas. The meeting brought together the team commissioned by the Ministry of Economy and Trade to work on the strategy with the international expert in free trade zones, Mr. Kevin O’Connor, via Zoom.

In attendance at the meeting were Mr. Majdi Al-Huni and Mr. Muammar Al-Hur from the Ministry of Economy and Trade, Mr. Abdelhafidh Daw from the Urban Planning Authority, Mr. Hisham Al-Burki from the Mersa Free Zone, Mr. Ali Abdul-Ali from the Misurata Free Zone, Mr. Mutaz Al-Rayes from the Ministry of Planning, and Mr. Mohamed Alaswad, Deputy Director of Programs at Expertise France in Libya.

This activity aims to adopt a national free zone strategy to expand trade, improve the investment climate, and support economic growth and diversification in Libya. This is being done as part of the technical support provided under the E-NABLE project, implemented by Expertise France and funded by the European Union for a sustainable and resilient Libyan economy.
